South Island!
I am back from my mid sem break! Went travelling to the south island.. thats the beauty of SEP.. Mid sem break is a time for you to travel and play. You dont get such luxuries in NUS. Not that I am super free.. but well.. got to travel more to make my trip to NZ worth the money and experience! Will have my Jap Mid sem test and oral next week. Will study for it over the weekends and ACE IT! haha...
South Island was coldddddddddddd. brrrrr.... As usual, because there is so many pictures taken everyday, i shall blog day by day.
*ps to mum and dad* : Dont worry.. Didnt do anything any extreme sports this time.. Sightsee sightsee only. :)

Auckland Domestic Airport. D0 you know you dont need your passport on domestic flights? I didnt!
It was a short flight. 1.5hrs. They served cookies on board! one large choc cookie.
I thought the view was quite impressive. There were never ending mountains once we are in south island. Its like geography textbook come alive.
First stop was Chirstchurch. This time we didnt travel as a whole nus clique. Kimpeng has a fieldtrip and Jing went to south island too but travelled in different directions with Weifeng. Travelled with new people, made new friends!Christchurch at night. Those blue lights make it look like Christmas in Singapore.
A cute little pink smart car.
I dont know whats that but the orange thing moves. We settled into our 1st backpackers of the trip.. called Charlie B's. The facilities were not too bad and you see people just hanging out at the lounge, watching tv with fellow strangers. I guess that is a main characteristic of backpackers, a casual and friendly atmosphere.. People there are usually friendly too.
But... There is something about Charlie B's that i didnt really enjoy. We had to share a room with 6 other stangers. Hmmmm.. I thought we booked a room for 6. Ended up in a room for 12. Nevermind.. Only fair we see that side of backpacker's life too. Couldnt sleep that night.. too cold. Should have brought a thin jacket to wear to sleep. Only brought my bulky coat along.
Check out the fridge. It is like a whole room by itself!
Didnt do much on the first day. Just explored Christchurch a little and slept early. Had to wake up early next morning to drive to Dunedin to catch our wild life tour. Lucky we had 4 drivers to take turns.. We had lots of driving this trip! I wished i could drive so i can help.. I'll learn I'll learn... when I get back to Singapore, I'll learn.
